After yesterday’s post, I’m tired—emotionally and physically drained. It’s hard when you put your heart into something, and it doesn’t reach people the way you hoped. Doesn’t resonate. Maybe it was a bad bit of writing, or maybe it was too raw, too real? I alluded to this in Monday’s post, Are You On Fakebook?, where I talked about the dearth of reality, the lack of true community, in places like Facebook. Not saying it can’t happen, but it seems to be much more the exception than the rule. Yeah, I know there’s a lot of noise out there, but if I’m being honest, I’ve got to admit that it’s nice to be noticed. Nice to know that someone notices what you’re doing. I’ve had some of it—some very meaningful comments, but not too many. Maybe I’m just too new to the blogosphere for folks to really trust me yet, or maybe my expectations for community are too unrealistic? I know this: it’s both fallacious, and human, to compare (and still I can’t seem to help it). God, please help me to get off that treadmill! With regard to metrics—pageviews—I haven’t a clue as to what’s good, or bad. I know I’ve had over 1600 of them in the last month, but they just don’t seem to translate to comments. Again, if I’m being honest, my writing is neither as good as I hope it is, nor as bad as I think it is, but somewhere likely in the middle. But one thing it isn’t is a gimmick. I’m here, and I’m here to stay. So help me God, I can do no other. So, in the end, if I’m connecting with you, great; if not, I hope to in the future. Maybe if you read this, you can drop a line in the comments telling me what you do connect with? I’d sure appreciate it. See you around the “intertubes.” Maybe, someday, we can build a little community right here on this page. What do you say? Oh, by the way, are you tired, too?
