I know. I know. I’m supposed to “hate” another blogger today, right? “Hate” them in such way that highlights their work.
But you know what?
I’m too tired. Because of sleep apnea.
And not in an ironic, this is something cool, I really love it kind of way.
I hate it!
And I (really) hate that–that I’m feeling tired and uninspired. It’s gone on a long time now–too long–but I’ve got to see my wife through some stuff before I can take care of me.
Believe me, I don’t relish this. Have you ever had a sleep study? No? Here’s how it works. You show up at this place that’s full of beds, and bedrooms, that aren’t yours. And they actually expect you to sleep on these beds using pillows that aren’t yours either.
In this way, I guess it’s like a hotel–a hotel from hell! Why do I say this? It’s the electrodes, man! Did you ever see The Matrix? It’s like that–minus the the large probe shoved into the base of one’s skull. But you’re otherwise wired up like a Christmas tree.
And forget going to the bathroom! You’ve got to notify the tech, who comes in to unhook you, and then you carry the bundle of wires to the loo!
So much fun!
As you can see, I’m not anxious to repeat this experience.
But if this is what it takes to get me better, so that I have more energy during the day, it’s what I gotta do.
But I don’t have to like it, right?
I guess there’s worse crosses to bear. But I wish God would get with the program and bless me with real, actual, honest to goodness, restful sleep. (Could you get on that, God?)
How about you? How do you sleep at night? Have you, or anyone you know, ever had sleep apnea?
