>Aghast–Child Prostitution In My City

>Last night, my wife and I attended a concert in the Phoenix area. JJ Heller and Ree Boado brought down the house. But we left with having been touched by much than soul-stirring music. You see, the concert was a benefit for Project Streetlight, whose mission is to end child prostitution in the Phoenix area. I was aghast to learn that there are no less than 300 children being forced into prostitution in my city! Let me put this way: this puts Taken, starring Liam Neeson, in a brand new light: it’s altogether real. And it’s happening here!

All the more horrifying to me is that I have a daughter, and I can’t imagine her being taken in this way. But this very thing has happened to families like mine altogether too many times.

As members of the body of Christ, it’s up to us to do something about it.

There is so much we 'know' about, but don't really 'see' happening around us, isn't there. Child prostitution, human trafficking, domestic violence, and so on. Sometimes it just needs an event (or less) to put it into perspective so that we can see and pray.

    • Amen, and amen! I feel my consciousness--my awareness--being raised in myriad ways lately. God is stretching me.
